Numerical solution methods in this area are extremely scarce in literature. This paper proposes a methodology for solving the problems of this type. Based on the control-volume approach and continuity principle of heat flux at the interface of a control volume, the discretization equation is derived for the control volume having both conduction and radiation at its interface. The discretization equation obtained takes the same form as that for the pure conduction problem, with the radiation heat flux at the interface appearing as an additional source term. A particular application example of heat conduction with an annular air gap within its solution domain is considered in detail to show the iterative solution scheme.

    Three specific models for nonstationary collapse have been investigated and the entropy variation during collapse has been calculated. The results of calculation show that the collapsing process is art entropic one if both local energy and local flux of entropy are conservational. However, for an open system with radiation heat flux, the collapsing process is one with decreasing entropy.
