The convective diffusive problems of oxygen and carbon dioxide in human airway at normal respiratory status were studied theoretically in the present paper. The human airway was idealized as a bifurcated(two branch) trachea tree, based on the understanding of the physiological structure of the human airway, and on Horsfield Wanner optimization analysis about the trachea system status. It was assumed that the gases in the airway were incompressible, viscous fluid, due mainly to the characteristics of the low pressure drop and low rate of the gases within the human airway. One dimensional, non steady convective diffusive equations of oxygen and carbon dioxide were solved using Lax Wendroff finite difference method,i.e., the so called three legged finite difference method. The boundary conditions were set up according to the two different situations, respectively. The computational results showed the reasonable distributions of the concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the human airway, respectively.

The Chinese myths of the sun and the moon contain the system of the national spirit, which is established by the symbolic prototypes.(1) The sun in the traditional Chinese myth was borne by the God of Heaven called Jun characteristic of a bird and his wife Xihe. Its real image is cunwu, a legendary bird (crow) with three feet. In the perspective of prototypical symbolism, the bird represents the image of the father as phallicism, so the God Jun is identical to his son the sun. The reason why the crow was chosen to represent the image of the sun is that according to the traditional Chinese mentality the crow is a divine bird that knows the will of Heaven. And it is also the origin of the Chinese ya (crow) culture. Furthermore, from the ancient Chinese cosmologic point of view, we know that the “three” is the cardinal number to create all. Given this, we may say that the prototype of the sun myth is the rational spirit of the father creating all creatures. In the system of the father's symbol, the mother Xihe is alienated. (2) The moon in the more popular myth is borne by Jun and his wife Changxi. Dedicated to it are some more symbolic images, such as Chang'e (Goddess of the Moon, a lady who stole an elixir from her husband, swallowed it, and flew to the moon), chanchu (a three legged toad in the moon), tuzi (a jade rabbit), guishu (osmanthus tree), and Wu Gang (an immortal in the moon). According to the etymological research, Chang'e is formed by the phonetic transformation of Changxi. Its prototype is the goddess, the symbol of fertility, just like the moon shining always. Chang'e who took the elixir proves immortal. The toad symbolizes the fertile mother who can prolong her life by giving birth to more children. The most obscure is the image of the rabbit. There seems to be a number of reasons for putting a fertile rabbit into the moon. Perhaps the most convincing one is that there was a primeval belief about reproduction—pulling out some teeth (1 to 4) for an easy breath of air to increase the fertility. Psychologically, the hare lipped rabbit is just the case. Chang'e, Changxi, the toad, and the rabbit all combine to achieve the desire of the Goddess Changxi, or rather, the desire of human beings to live and procreate all the time. In this case, however, the God Jun is excluded from the system of the maternal symbol. The myth about the osmanthus tree and Wu Gang, which was born during the period of the Han Dynasty through the Six Dynasties (206BC 589AD), made the tree and the man become an individual symbol to pursue the spirit of eternity. The osmanthus tree flowers on the basis of a month, correspondent with a lunar month. Wu Gang who had made a mistake in achieving a supernatural being was exiled by the Jade Emperor (the supreme deity in the Taoist cosmology) with the stipulation that amnesty could be extended only he had succeeded in felling the osmanthus tree. Yet each time Wu Gang struck with his axe, the tree healed the cut immediately, dooming him to eternal futility. The endless cutting of the tree demonstrates man's pursuit of individual eternity.(3) On the unearthed stones from the Han Dynasty are carved the image of Fuxi with a human's head and a snake's body holding the sun (with a three foot crow on it) who makes love with Nuwa holding the moon with the toad and the rabbit on it). Considering the legendary story about the marriage between the brother and the sister of the flood myth that took place in central China, we may understand that the unity of the sun and the moon symbolizes the birth of cultural Homo sapiens, who came into being accidentally after the flood. The culture of Homo sapiens is characterized by the pursuit of eternity. This model is isomorphic to the Taiji culture of pre Qin Confucianism.
