Seven kinds of lectin were used to study 102 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 13 cases of normal bladder mucosa by lectin binding histochemical method (ABC).
84.0% lymph node metastatic tumors produced celluar glycoconjugates, whichdiffered in lectin binding profiles from those made by the cells in the respective primary carcinoma. More PNAand PHA receptors were produced by the lymph node metastatic tumors than primary carcinoma. ConclusionThe positive rares PNA and PHA receptors are relative to the degree of invasion of bladder carcinoma and lymphnode metastatic tumors.

Results The vicia villosa lectin binding capacity to serum IgA1 in IgA nephropathy was significantly higher than that in control (4.56 AU/mg±3.08 AU/mg vs 2.83 AU/mg± 1.02 AU/mg,P<0.025).

Method Using immunohistochemistry and lectin binding histochemical methods (SABC ), the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and tumor angiogenesis were studied on archival specimens of 83 cases of human bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 6 cses of normal bladder mucosa , and their relation to the pathological grading and prognosis was analyzed .
α-d-Mannopyranoside, α-d-glucopyranoside, and α-d-galactopyranoside were utilized in model studies and product formations were detected by lectin binding.
Newly established human pancreatic carcinoma cell lines and their lectin binding properties
Quantification and preservation of lectin binding by isolated cardiomyocytes
Our aim was to develop a protocol which retained lectin binding to an extent similar to living cells.
We tested glutaraldehyde and paraformaldehyde in different concentrations before and after lectin binding, different buffers and divalent cations, as additives, to determine the effects on preservation of lectin binding.
Seven kinds of lectin were used to study 102 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 13 cases of normal bladder mucosa by lectin binding histochemical method (ABC).The result revealed that there was a close correlation between the grading of bladder cancer and the expressive levels of ConA,WGA and SJA receptors;ConA and WGA showed higer positive rates (over 80%),while SJA showed a negative rate of 95 %in cases of bladder cancer with bad prognosis. Almost all the ConA and WGA positive cases(100%...

Almost all the ConA and WGA positive cases(100% and 96 %)and 95% of SJA negative cases died within 5 years. The result suggests that ConA,WGA and SJA might be useful markers in evaluating the prognosis of bladder cancer.
To study the distrbuition of lectin receptors in the bladder careinoma and its invasion andmetastasis. Methods Three lectins (Biotin-PNA, Biotin-PHA and Biontin-LCA) were used to study 52 casesof human bladder carcinoma and 25 cases of lymph node metastatic tumors by using the affinity histochemicalmethod. Results the positive rates of PNA and PHA receptors in invasive tumors were significant higher thanthe superficial ones (p<0. 05 ). 84.0% lymph node metastatic tumors produced celluar glycoconjugates, whichdiffered...

Result There was a significant difference in the intensity of VEGF staining of microvessel counts between grade Ⅲand grade Ⅰcarcinoma ,of metastatic , recurrent, 5-year death group and the group without metastasis and recurrence(P<0.01).The expression of VEGF was correlated with microvessel counts in grad Ⅲ carcinoma of in cases of metastasis ,recurrence, 5-year death (P <0.05). Conclusion VEGF is an important angiogenic factor ,and high expression of VEGF and microvessel counts may aid in predicting at risk for metastasis, recurrence and 5-year death.
