This paper presents an adaptive robust control scheme based on the normal robust control scheme and adaptive gains are used instead of the nonadaptive gains. The adaptation will occur only when the error vector is large and will not occur when the error vector is small. The dynamic performance and robustness of the whole system have been improved and the theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the scheme developed is feasible.

A design method for linear multivariable systems-Reversed-Frame Normalization (RFN) is introdused in this dissertation. The method is based on the complex matrix singular value decomposition (SyD), An 'ideal' controller is fitted by using the least-squares technique, which makes the transfer function matrix of a system approximately normalized. The problems of the coupling, stability, dynamic performance and robustness can be solved by this method.
