These expressions show that the transient voltage is related to the characteristics of ECL (rise or fall time, output impedance and input capacitance) and the parameters of transmission lines (characteristic impedance and line length). With the aid of a computer, the waveforms can be predicted for various parameters. The layout guidelines can then be obtained under certain systemetic requirements (e.g., for given overshoot or undershoot voltages). On the other hand, it is also useful for the circuit system design from the point of the interconnection view. The computing results are well agree with the experiments.
