The single phase reactive power is calculated by the algorithm for single phase instantaneous reactive power. Selective harmonics eliminated PWM (SHE-PWM) is employed to ensure that the THD of output reactive current is less than 5% and that the capacitor voltage at DC side is stable. It is proved by the simulation results of the proposed compensation method that the single phase STATCOM possesses the ability to carry out fast balancing compensation.
