Internal friction measurements were made on commercial iron specimens containing various amounts of cerium and lanthanum (combined content: 0, 0.011, 0.026. 0.037, 0.075, 0.124%). For specimens thoroughly treated with wet-hydrogen to remove carbon and nitrogen impurities, the activation energy associated with the grain boundary internal friction peak was found to vary with the content of cerium and lanthanum. A maximum appears around the content of 0.03%. The maximum activation energy is 11.3 X 104 calories...

Internal friction measurements were made on commercial iron specimens containing various amounts of cerium and lanthanum (combined content: 0, 0.011, 0.026. 0.037, 0.075, 0.124%). For specimens thoroughly treated with wet-hydrogen to remove carbon and nitrogen impurities, the activation energy associated with the grain boundary internal friction peak was found to vary with the content of cerium and lanthanum. A maximum appears around the content of 0.03%. The maximum activation energy is 11.3 X 104 calories per mole and is about twice the value for iron free from cerium and lanthanum (6.4 X 104 calories per mole). For specimens loaded with carbon, the grain boundary internal friction peak was found to appear at a temperature 30℃ higher than that of the specimen free from cerium and lanthanum. The activation energy associated with the grain boundary peak was found to be 7.6 X 104 calories per mole (experimental error is within±2000 calories per mole) and is approximately independent of the cerium and lanthanum content.

The grain boundary internal friction in Fe-P and Fe-P-La alloys con-taining a little Cu has been studied. The internal friction is obviously reduced byLa added even 0.584-0.722 wt-%. The grain boundary peak migrates toward thehigh temperature and a small internal friction peak occurs. The grain boundaryinternal friction seems to be interpreted by movement, under stress, of both thedefects of atomic size, namely point defects, in grain boundaries and their clusters.

本文研究了含微量Cu的Fe-P及Fe-P-La合金系的晶界内耗。发现加进0.584—0.722wt-%的La,明显降低了合金的晶界内耗峰,使晶界峰向高温移动,并在高温处产生一个小内耗峰。对结果做了讨论。进一步阐明了晶界内耗机制:晶界中原子尺寸(即点)缺陷或它们的簇,在应力作用下运动引起内耗。
