The vibrations of beam with a mass attached to its end is discussed. This model applied to civil engineering towers. By using Bessel functions, the frequancy equation is obtained. The frequancy rallies of the first mode, 2nd mode and 3rd mode for many cases are calculated. The fundamental frequancy calculated by present paper are agreement with other approximate method, but present method can calculate the frequancy of any orders.

Appling this method to field balance of large sized flexible rotor will bring a lot of economical benifit. This method has been sucessfully used in the field balancing of 200 MW steam turbine rotor.

It is found that the damping properties of the work-spindle system are largely affected by the type of main bearing and the mounting method of the pulley. Particulary,the double-row parallel roller bearing is superior to the tapered roller bearing in the first mode of vibration,but inferior to the latter in the second and third modes. The damping capacity of the spindle can be improved by mounting a floating type V pulley at rear.

主轴-轴承系统的动态特性是机床主轴部件优化设计的重要指标。本文对轴承结构型式及其周边零件对车床主轴频率响应的作用进行了实验研究。实验的测试结果表明工件-主轴系统的阻尼特性很大程度上受轴承结构型式及带轮安装方式的影响。尤其在一阶振型时双列圆柱滚子轴承的结构型式优于圆锥滚子轴承,但是在二、三阶振型时则劣于后者。主轴的阻尼能力借助于后端带轮的卸荷安装方式而得到改善。
