The results of analysis of the National Brueau of Standard (NBS), Standard Reference Material (SRM) No. 1864, Urban Particulate Matter, gave a recovery of 92. 4108. 434 and a precision of 8.1% RSD.

The content of para-aminophenol in dye wastewater was determined by spectrophotometric method with Berthelot reagent as an oxidant. The analytic conditions such as determinating wavelength, Berthelot reagent dosage and colour-developing time were selected. Precision and accuracy experiments showed that the method was accurate and rapid, and suitable for determination of the para-aminophenol in dye wastewater.
