In this paper,by modifing PHM appropriately,we construct a class of parallel multivalue methods(PMMs)so as to improve the stability properities of PHM.

This paper describes the work of modifying the Sartorius iris photometer at the Purple Mountain Observatory. By using an oscilloscope with high gain amplifier instead of the simple tuning indicator tube, the balance error may be reduced to about 1/7—1/10 of that of the original apparatus. At the same time, the supply of the photoelectric-multiplier is replaced by a highly stable electronic voltage stabilizer in order to improve the stability of the instrument further. After measuring and comparing the zero-point drift under various conditions, it is shown that the dependence of drift on humidity seems to be more important than that on temperature. Besides, the dark current of photoelectric-multiplier and the size of iris will also have influence on the drift. With the box of photoelectric-multiplier hermetically sealed in a dry circumstance, the drift is apparently reduced to less than a half division per hour in the stable state. With the help of the relation between iris area and reading, measured by the authors, the balance error is discussed. The result we obtained does not agree with Argue's. In our case, the smaller the iris, the smaller would be the balance error. Finally, the results of measuring 36 stars in the open cluster IC4665 with the improved and the original apparatus are shown in Fig. 7.

Using the results obtained from model experiments, this paper shows that, by adopting a power system stabilizer in the excitation system, it is possible to increase the damping torque of a generator, to suppress its self-excited vibrations, thereby effectively improves the steady-state stability(or dynamic stability)of a power system This paper gives the test results of the steady-state stability limits of power system by using power system stabilizer with electric power, superfluous power and frequency as its control signals. Further checks were also done by applying short circuits, sudden change of prime mover motive power, sudden variation of transmission line parameters, load rejections, etc.; as a result, it has been discovered that the power system stabilizer with frequency as its control signal gives good performance and easily be realized in practice. Constructional details and parameters of power system stabilizer are also given in this paper. Factory has been arranged to produce such power system stabilizer in accordance with the results of this investigation, this should be an effective and a realistic way to improve the stability of electric power system of our country.
