We also found that 7 S RNA moretightly bound to the nuclear chroma-tin than the rest of small nuclearRNAs after their extraction with 0.075M NaCl and 0.35 M NaCl combinedwith sonication.Most of 7 S RNAremained in the residual chromatinfraction. These above described results appear to indicate that 7S RNA mayhave some function on the regulationof gene expression on its molecularbasis of sequence homology to AluDNA.Walter and Blobel report-ed that 7 S RNA could serve as acomponent of signal recognition particle,playing a role in the transpor-tation of secretory protein of cells.Nevertheless,this finding could notexplain why 7 S RNA has so highhomology to Alu DNA.7 S RNAmay actually have other functions,such as regulation on gene expression.

Human proto-oncogene c-kit is the cellular homologue of the HZ4 feline sarcoma virus (HZ4 FeSV) oncogene v-kit. The c-kit gene product is highly homologous to the receptors for PDGF and CSF-1, and is a transmembrane glycopr-otein possessing the activity of the tyrosine protein kinase.We report here the nucleotide sequence and structural characteristics of the two neighbouring EcoRI fragments of the human proto-oncogene c-kit.
