The features of improving nip condition on the new roll shape were analyzed theoretically. The mechanical conditions of secondary nip were established. This new roll shape is very effective for improving pierced quality of low plastic steel and intensifying piercing process with larger cross angle.

Present paper surveys the principles of construction of mathematical model used for dynamic gage change in continuous cold rolling of strip abroad and discusses the existing problems. The authors suggest to use the velocity balance equation V_(Ni)(1+f_i) =V_((Ni)+1)(1+ε_i+1)as the control equation for dynamic gage change, and to use the direct computation method to obtain the new roll gap and speed setting values of the stands for dynamic gage change. In order to more precisely guarantee the gage before and after the gage change point, it is necessary to take the equation of total tensional force h_it_(fi)=H_i + 1t_(bi+1) between roll stands into consideration to determine the new roll gap and speed setting values of the stands. This mathematical model of dynamic gage change using direct computation method in solving the velocity equation, has the advantage of high precision, broad range of gage change and simple calculation. Finally, a computation example is cited, and a dynamic digital simulation computation is carried out on a digital computer for rolling with gage change. Satisfactory results are obtained, which verifies the correctness of the model.
