The paper has described the rapid conversion of a low absorbing thymine dimer in the frozen aqueous solution of thymine by UY radiation. Thymine dimer has been isolated and identified and its properties of photochemistry and photobiology have been studied. The experiment results show that the staibility of thymine dimer is influenced by Ag+, Fe2+, Cu2+ and EB dye and the transformation between thymine dimer and thymine depends on the type and the concentration of metal ions.

The disappearance rate of straw meal cellulose during 48 hours in the rumen (38.62%) was significantly higher than that (i. e. 31.99%)of the control period (p<0.05). The total N, NAN and microbial N passing the abomasum had increasing trend. The rumen digestibility of OM had a decreasing tendency while the efficiency of microbial protein synthesis was increased by 70% (p<0.0l).

Rapid conversion of formaldehyde to formic acid was demonstiated in human erythroeytes and in liver of rat. The rate of biotransformation is dependcnt on the concentration of formaldehyde in medium and the duration of incubation. The results provide the basis for studies of formic acid in urine as an indicator of biological monitoring for occupational exposure to formaldehyde and provide some data for further toxicological evaluation.
