The increasing of the number of shafts and the number of control paramet-ers, togather with their corresponding control loops, make the gas turbines as acontrol object more and more complicate. This paper gives a study of the dynamicbehaviour of split shaft gas turbines with regenerator and adjustable nozzles by themodern control theory. With the detailed consideration of the physical phenomena,which take place in transient response, five differential and six algebraic equationsdescribing the dynamic behaviour are deduced, finally, through some special transfor-mation, a mathematical model of split shaft gas turbines in state-space form isobtained. On the basis of this state-space mathematical model, this paper presentsa common computer programm for the dynamic study of different split-shaft gasturbines with different control rules. This mathematical model may also be used forthe optimal control of split-shaft gas turbines.

Recently, the reserch of intelligent control focuses on fuzzy system, neural network and fuzzy neural network techniques. And fuzzy neural network techniques are becoming people’s main research point. A new kind of self-organization fuzzy controller based on neural network with expert adjusting ability is proposed. It’s characteristics are: the reasoning method of traditional fuzzy controller is replaced by the neural network method which can improve the real-time dynamic performance. The controller is able to modify the membership function on-line, which makes it possible to update the fuzzy rules automatically. The quantization factors and the proportion factors are regulated automatically by expert system. The simulation results show that this intelligent controller has features of response fast, overshoot small, good stability and robust performance.
