Hindered phenol-type of anti-oxidant is a mixture of alkylphenols with 70-75% 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol. It is prepared by alkylation of phenol and can be added to motor fuels. The procedure for preparation is simple and does not suffer from serious pollution. Preliminary evaluation has shown that the product thus produced is an excellent anti-oxidant in gasoline.
