A simple and effective procedure was developed for the extraction and purification of HCG from the materials of induced abortion. The specific activities of HGG in each extraction were stepped up to about 100, 500 IU/mg and the yield percentages were about 90% , 80% , respectively. The purification procedure included fractionated preciptation with (NH4)2SO4 salting out and chromatography on DEAE-cellulose DE52. The specific activities of HCG in each purification were stepped up to about 1600, 3500 IU/mg and the yield percentages were about 80% and 85%, respectively. The purified preparation showed only one band of HCG by polyacry-lamide gel electrophoresis. The electropherogram of the final product was similar to that of the relevant purified product of urine HCG.
