In this case, the silver can not be recovered.Silver existing in the form of sulphides and metallic particles in the leaching residue is micro-sized. Therefore, the silver values could be recovered by the floatation process directly.Experiments on floatation were carried out in both laboratory...

Therefore, the silver values could be recovered by the floatation process directly.Experiments on floatation were carried out in both laboratory and industry scales using No. 2 oil as frother and aerofloat as collector, all made in China.The silver content in the floatation concentrate obtained was 6000-20000 grams per ton, when its content in the leaching residue ranging from 300 to 440 grams per ton. Recovery of silver was 65-70%, and the silver content in the tails in the range of 80-120 grams per ton. In the fotation process copper values could also be recovered. Practice has shown that flotation without tailing water discharge can be realized through adequate process control.The floated silver concentrate, in fact, a zinc concentrate with high silver content, contained 40-45% Zn, 4-5% Cu, about 30% S and 0.6-2.0% Ag. It could not bc treated directly in the lead and copper smelting systems at the plant.Experiments on the treatment of silver concentrate were done to recover both silver and copper values. As result, the flowsheet was established, involving sulfatizing roasting, acidic leaching, reducing silver using sulfur dioxide, and precipitating copper from the solution using zinc powder.The overall recovery of silver and copper in the process was 97.40% and 96.06% respectively.
