The differential refractometer described here was designed on the principle of light refraction at two liquid interfaces. A beam of monochromatic light (436 or 546 mμ)passing through a hollow glass cell of square cross-section filled with solution and immersed in the solvent was refracted. The differential refractometer described here was designed on the principle of light refraction at two liquid interfaces. A beam of monochromatic light (436 or 546 mμ)passing through a hollow glass cell of square cross-section filled with solution and immersed in the solvent was refracted. The displacement of the slit images of the rays passing through the two halves of the solution prism was magnified by a lens of long focal length. To reduce the width of the image, a pair of double slits were set before the lens. Three intensive interference fringes were obtained. The distance between the two images was then accurately deter-mined by a reading microscope. The refractometer has a sensitivity of △n=2.5×10~(-6). dn/dc data for 7 polymer-solvent or solute-solvent systems are given. For successful measurement, attention is called to the following remarks: (1) Due to large values of dn/dc for organic solvents, the temperature difference and fluctuation between the solution cell and the solvent cell should not exceed 0.005℃. (2) The cell should be so designed as to avoid distilling of solvent into the solution which causes continuous decrease of the concentration of the solution. (3) Aqueous solution of sucrose is preferred as standard solution for the calibration of the apparatus.

The design and operation of some types of calibrating apparatus for measur- ing liquid flow are discussed in this paper.For low Reynold's number flow, tests and theoretical analysis on the apparatus designed by the authors show that the total error(including the errors from circulating system,calibration of the tank,time recording,scale reading etc.)of this design does not exceed±0.25%. After the publication of first paper concerning the method of measurement due to Kerns in 1949,fine papers have been published successively in foreign periodicals up to 1961.This paper reviews in general the fundamental tocory and methods of measurement,and then derives an expression used to calculate the efficiency in terms of input impedance at voltage minimum.In the formula there is advantage of simplioity in measurement and computation of efficiency.The curves of input impedance at voltage minimum with respect to thermistor impedance are in complete agreement with approximate straight lines given by Ginzton. In this paper measured results have been tabulated for the efficiency of tuned thermistor mount in X-band.The results based on different methods have been compared one another.At the end of the paper the restrictions of application of different methods are discussed and the topics to be considered further are suggested,

热敏电阻接头的效率定义为热敏电阻吸收的功率和实际输入到接头的功率之比。由于热敏电阻接头内部不可避免地存在壁损耗,接触损耗和热敏电阻的玻壳损耗等。这个效率不能达到百分之一百。测定热敏电阻接头的效率对于功率计的误差分析及梭准,热敏电阻接头的研制和改进具有重要的实际意义。自1949年Kerns提出这一个问题以来,至1961年止,国外曾先后发表了五篇有关文献,介绍了五种不同的测量或计算方法。本文首先综述了它们的理论基础,介绍了各种测量方法,并在此基础上导出了利用热敏电阻为某一阻值时接头输入端的节点阻抗值直接计算效率的公式。由此公式,不仅得到一种简单的测量和计算方法,而且由公式作出的输入端节点阻抗-热敏电阻阻值曲线符合Ginzton提出的近似直线性。文中列出了用五种不同方法测试三厘米可调谐波导式热敏电阻接头的效率的实验结果,并从实验和计算两方面比较了这些方法的优劣之处。最后,对这些方法的应用以及有待进一步研究的若干问题提出了粗浅的建议。
