A train of repetitive shocks applied to one side of the cerebral cortex in unanesthetized rabbit normally elicited a train of electrical responses of more or less regular amplitude in the contralateral cortex.After sectioning of the corpus callosum,the responses changed to a new one composed mainly of surface negative waves and charac- terized by periodic waxing and waning of the amplitude of the responses to individual shocks.Such responses could be obtained from the sensori-motor cortex as well as from the visual cortex.Further transection of the thalamus along the midline abolished such responses.Electrical responses could also be recorded from the central portion of the thalamus but with amplitude showing no waxing and waning phenomenon.The res- ponses described above from the cortex and the thalamus could be degressed by stimula- tion of the divided corpus callosum on the recording side.It is assumed that stimulation of the cerebral cortex may activate the central portion of the thalamus which in turn activates the contralateral cortex.The nerve impulse passing through the corpus callosum may have a depressive action on such thalamically involved responses.

The study was carried out on the toad seiatic-sartorius preparation. In the period of complete neuromuscular block the frequency of the miniature e.p.p.'s remained unchanged and occasionally was somewhat increased. Nickel affected neither the sensitivity of the end-plate region to acetylcholine (ACh), nor the time course of the electrotonic potential of the muscle membrane. The resting potential of the muscle fibres was not affected by nickel, but the critical level of depolarization for generating spike discharge was increased to some extent. It is supposed that the diminution of ACh release at the motor nerve endings by nerve impulse is probably the chief cause of the neuromuscular block produced by nickel ions.

The effects of Toosendanin(Chuanliansu),an active anthelmintic againstascaris isolated from the bark of Melia toosendan Set Z,on neuromuscular trans-mission were investigated on phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparations of rat.Theresults obtained were as follows:1.The neuromuscular transmission could be irreversibly blocked by Toosen-danin without effecting on the conduction of nerve impulse.The tension of mus-cular contraction elicited by direct stimulation was augmented after the treatmentof Toosendanin.2.Toosendanin...

本文利用大鼠膈神经膈肌标本观察了川楝素对神经肌肉接头的作用,主要结果如下:1.川棟素不可逆地阻遏间接刺激引起的肌肉收缩,但不影响兴奋在神经的传导,也不降低肌肉对直接刺激的反应。2.在经川楝素作用下接近麻痹的标本,于终板区做细胞内记录可观察到肌肉动作电位的消失,终板电位下降、脱落和完全消失的过程。3.川楝素对肌细胞膜的静息电位无明显作用。用小鸡颈二腹肌标本检查,川棟素引起接头传递阻遏后,肌肉的乙酰胆碱敏感性不受影响。4.川棟素对在新斯的明存在下由单个间接刺激诱起的神经末梢的重复发放的作用是先加强然后减弱,在川楝素引起接头传递阻遏前重复发放完全消失。这些结果表明,川棟素是一个选择性地作用于突触前的神经肌肉传递阻遏剂。
