The simple and systematic formulation of Finite Dynamic Element Method (DEM) is derived from the principle of minimum of potential, by seperating the displacement into static displacement and dynamic displacement which is dependent on the dynamic characteristics. The defect of complicated formulation in DEM has been overcome. By using the present method, the finite dynamic element formulation for thin plate transverse free vibration has been presented. Furthermore, the rectangular plate transverse free vibration with different boundary conditions has been numerically tested. The results exibit remarkable characteristic behavior in dynamic structural analysis with enhanced computational accuracy.
