We studied The Y/SLA of Guicho 2 and hybrid plants. The differences of the values among plants of the same variety were not significant (extreme difference=5.09, LSR_(0.05)=7.93) However, the differences between hybrid plants were extremely conspicuous (F=33.44>F_(0.01)= 3.53, P<0.01). The results indicated that hereditary difference of the Y/SLA existed truly. The differences of the Y/SLA between various ears in the same plant were extremely striking (F=10.29>F_(0.01)=2.88, P<0.01) The order of the ears was positively correlated with The Y/SLA (t=6.625, r=0.9197).The differences of the Y/SLA of early five ears were not significant (F=0.42), but those of the late ears were notely decreased, therefore, the Y/SLA of the early five cars would be selected as standard for comparison. The high Y/SLA values of 74-1 (60.55mg/cm~2) and Guichao 2 (48.0mg/cm~2) suggested that they belonged to small leaf-big car type with high photosynthetic efficiency, however, the low Y/SLA values of the other materials imdicated that they belonged to big leaf-small ear type with low photosynthetic efficiency. Therefore, the former type would be highly productive than the latter at same leaf area index. Thus the Y/SLA method was practical in yield breeding of rice.

NOx concentrations within the cylinder of an operating single-cylinderversion of a passenger-car type,indirect-injection diesel engine have beenmeasured using a total cylinder sampling system.Measurements have beenmade for 11 different operating conditions.Engine speeds of 1000 and 1500r/min and the load range corresponding to equivalence ratios ranging from0.32 to 0.94 were explored.The influences of fuel injection timing andexhaust recirculation were also examined.The experimental data werecompared with model predictions made using MIT's stochastic combustionmodel for this engine.In general,the modeled results were in goodagreement with the experimental results.The major difference was thatthe model did not predict the measured higher NOx concentrations in thecylinder than in the exhaust.

Diesel exhaust soot particle from an indirect injection,naturally aspiratedpassenger-car-type diesel engine was measured and analysed by a variety ofmethods,including an electrical aerosol analyzer,a condensation nucleuscounter,a high volume cascade impactor and a filter sampler.Diesel exhaustparticle was sampled and studied to determine particle number,surface,volume and mass concentration and its distribution.Particle number concentration is in a range of (5~6)×10~7 cm~(-3),surface concentration is1.51m~2/m~3,volume concentration is 4.35×10~(-2)cm~3/m~3,mass concentrationis 47.5 mg/m~3.90% of the particle size in diesel exhaust by mass is lessthan 1.2μm in diameter.Experimental methods and results were discussedin detail.
