This article presents methods for establishing the state equations of linear time-invariant, linear time-varying and nonlinear circuits. The relationships between the state equations and a high-order differential equation or a transfer function are investigated. Various means for the evaluation of the slate transition matrix are discussed, along with the analytical solutions of state equations.
