The model of runoff formation in excess of storage applied in some humid regions of China is revised in this paper, so that the model can adopt the information provided by remote sensing satellite. Soil available storage capacity and initial moisture content in a watershed are important parameters. The parameters of original model are determined by means of statistical and optimum seeking methods, and are only an index or a fictitious mass. The parameters of the revised model are determined by using the information provided by remote sensing satellite, and have clear physical meaning and reflect actual soil storage case in the watershed. It bases yield calculation on reliability. The model proposed is advantageous to going further into the role of the watershed in runoff formation due to rainfall, and provides reliable basis for flood forecasting.
