But the change of the elements of global stiffness matrix requires the repeat computations in the solution of equilibrium equations for the elastic-plastic finite element analysis of structures during each increase of loading. This requires also a lot of computing efforts and expensive costs. Some techniques, such as substruct-uring method and method of updating matrix were proposed by s^nie investigators in order to overcome these shortages. These techniques up to date were only used in treating the elastic-plastic analysis of trusses, frames, plane stress problems and axisymmetric problems. The complication of thin shell structures makes the complication of elastic plastic finite element analysis of thin elastic-plastic structures. Besides the save of computing time in the solution of equilibrium equations, the save of computing effort and guarantee of enough accuracy of elastic-plastic finite element analysis of shell structures are required. The quasi-conforming elements and layered subelement model are used. The global stiffness matrix of each individual shell is assembled in blocks. The system of statically equilibrium equations are solved by the forward-backward sequence modification approach in Gauss elimination method. These elements have the advantages of simpler formulation, better convergence, less computing time and satisfying rigid body displacement modes, while the forward-backward sequence modification approach in blocks are used to restrict the solution of statically equilibrium equations in the plastic zones during each increase of loading, i. e. the modification of these elements of global stiffness matrix are only required, these elements reflect the parts of shell have entered into plastic zones. The idea of so-called quasi-substruc-turing technique is introduced in present paper, i. e. the individual shells are assembled at the intersection line between shells. The intersection line is discre-tized into finite number of points. The flexibility matrices connecting the interactive generalized forces and generalized strains of each individual shell can be found by solving their statically equilibrium equations by assuming the unit forces at these points with the forward-backward sequence modificationiapproach in blocks. The generalized interactive forces at these points are found by the compatibility conditions and statically equilibrium conditions at these points and the equilibrium equations of individual shells. Finally, the generalized displacements, generalized strains of each individual shell can be found by superposition. All these save a lot of core memory, also guarantee the computing accuracy. The corresponding computer program was compiled with FORTRAN 77.For the purpose of checking the above formulation, at first, the numerical example of elastic-plastic analysis of circular cylindrical shells under hydrostatic pressure were computed and compared with the analytic results and experimental results by authors.As an example of shell structure problem, the elastic-plastic analysis of tubular T-joints of offshore drilling platform with branch tube under axial compression and corresponding experiments were carried out by us. The computing results are compared not only with our experimental results (elastic-plastic), and also with previous computed results and experimental results (elastic). All these computing results are quite close to the experimental results. These show that the present method is feasible. This provides a new way for the clastic-plastic analysis of thin shell structures and worth for practical purposes.

The research work in thisfield started at the beginning of 80's in China. There are several non-conventional bonding without using any glue, bonding with molasses orsulphite liquod (SSL) as additive to produce weathering qualityboard. The raw material includes bagasse, pine, aspen, basswood etc, some ofthem have entered into the pilot stage. An explosive process to producequality pulp using aspen and eucalyptus as raw material has been alsotested. China is plentiful in agriculture residues and waste products su-itable to be converted into board by the method with nonconventionalbonding. The variety of nonconventional bonding is also just suitable tothe development under the condition with different resource and geographyin the vast expanse of land in China.
