The injector of 16V240Z diesel engine (240 injector) works under relative high dynamic and thermal loading conditions,its needle valve bodyis subjected to pulsating fuel pressure with the instantaneous maximum value 83.36MPa,and the maximum temperature of the nozzle head reaches 306°C.

The radiant flux of the solar ultraviolet on the Plateau is 1.3 times as large as MoHe on the plain in the north-eastern part of China. The instantaneous maximum of the solar ultraviolet reaches to 0.100 cal·cm-2 ·min-1.

The injector of 16V240Z diesel engine (240 injector) works under relative high dynamic and thermal loading conditions,its needle valve bodyis subjected to pulsating fuel pressure with the instantaneous maximum value 83.36MPa,and the maximum temperature of the nozzle head reaches 306°C.To assure good performances of injector under such rough conditions andto improve its quality,this paper presents an approach to increasing the service life of the nozzle from the structure design,material,heat treatment andfinish precision.Extensive accounts and analysis have been made on the modification of structure design,the choose of a new nitriding steel and theoptimization of gas nitriding process parameters.Three-year installed operating ??testing results showed that the service life of the nozzle had reached 10000hrs (300000km) or more.Atomizing is still good now. The special kind of injector was testimonialised by Railway Ministryon Oct.9,1985.The above modification is a favourable approach to increasingthe reliability and service life of the injector of high-power diesel engine.
