Experiments were carried out to test the influence of the chemical contents of the artificial eggs upon the ovipesitional response of the egg parasite Trichogramma den-drolimi. The results showed that among the 20 1-amino aeids tested only leucine, phenylalanine and isoleucine could induce oviposition; the former two amino acids had effects quite similar to that of the pupal haemolymph of the oak silkworm Antheraea pernyi whereas isoleucine was less potent. Experiments were carried out to test the influence of the chemical contents of the artificial eggs upon the ovipesitional response of the egg parasite Trichogramma den-drolimi. The results showed that among the 20 1-amino aeids tested only leucine, phenylalanine and isoleucine could induce oviposition; the former two amino acids had effects quite similar to that of the pupal haemolymph of the oak silkworm Antheraea pernyi whereas isoleucine was less potent. The optimal concentrations of these throe amino acils for this purpose were found to be 200, 400 and 320 mg/100 ml respectively. The female wasp would oviposit even if the concentrations were elevated to higher levels. Occasionally histidine could also induce oviposition. The mixture of leucine, phenylalanine and histidine gave better results than each of the amino acids used alone and their optimal concentrations in the mixture were 600, 400 and 425 mg/100 ml respectively. In this case each artificial egg would receive 878.7 wasp eggs in average, and the result was better than that when pupal haemolymph of the oak silkworm was used.In addition to the amino acids tested, salts, sugars, organic acids and vitamines were also tried. But they did not induce oviposition in this species. Some organic materials which were used in compounding the culturing media for the larvae such as chicken embryo extract, chicken egg yolk, bovine serum, yeast extract, etc. were less potent in inducing oviposition; and when they were mixed with the basic eulturing medium, they would not detract the potency of oviposition induction of the amino acids. The basic culturing medium containing a small amount of chicken embryo extract, milk or chicken egg yolk had an inducing potency approximately equal to that of pupal haemolymph of the oak silkworm. Since this modified culturing medium can ensure the survival of the wasp eggs and larval development it can be used for obtaining wasp eggs after being incorporated into the artificial eggs.Experiments with the artificial eggs showed that the female wasps could detect the chemical nature of the contents of the artificial eggs with sensilla on the ovipositors and the role played by antennae in sensory detection had little concern with the number of eggs laid. The influence of the size of the artificial eggs on the number of eggs laid would manifest only when the artificial eggs were below certain dimensions and the response was brought forth perhaps through sensory detection of the contents of the artificial eggs.

In the present work the breakdown of an isolated axisymmetric vortex embedded in an unbounded uniform flow is examined by numerical integration of the complete Navier-Stokes equations for unsteady axisymmetric flow.The results show that if the vortex strength is small,the solution approaches a steady flow and the vortex is stable and that if this strength is large enough,the solution remains unsteady and a recirculating zone will appear near the axis,its form and internal structure resembling those of the axisymmetric...

In the present work the breakdown of an isolated axisymmetric vortex embedded in an unbounded uniform flow is examined by numerical integration of the complete Navier-Stokes equations for unsteady axisymmetric flow.The results show that if the vortex strength is small,the solution approaches a steady flow and the vortex is stable and that if this strength is large enough,the solution remains unsteady and a recirculating zone will appear near the axis,its form and internal structure resembling those of the axisymmetric breakdown bubbles with multi-cells observed by Faler and Leibovich (1978).For appropriate combinations of flow parameters the flow reveals quasi-periodicity.Parallel calculations with the quasi-cylindrical approximation indicate that so far as predicting of breakdown is concerned,its results coincide quite well with the results mentioned above.They both show that the vortex breakdown has little concern with the Reynolds number or with the critical classification of the upstream flow,at least for the lower range of Reynolds numbers covered by the calculations of this work.

The electrical re-sistance of such samples is estimated by the vol-tage drop at the mid-region When a very feebleelectrical current is applied at their terminals.Electrical resistance of a plant tissue to appliedcurrent is essentially made up of two compon-ents: the external resistance of its cellulose fra-mework (electrical resistance of apoplast); andthe internal resistance (electrical resistance ofsymplast). The latter can further be resolvedinto: (1) plasmic membrane resistance to theentry and exit of applied current; (2) total re-sistance of the cell units that constitute the tissue;and (3) total resistance of the intercellular plas-modesmatal connections in the tissue (Fig. 3).Electrical resistance measurements have oftenbeen carried out on woody segments where thesipoplast constitutes a major part of the structure.The consensus of opinion is that the appliedcurrent mainly follows the apoplastic route,and the magnitude of tissue resistance dependsupon the electrical conductivity of apoplast.According to this opinion, the tissue is assumedto be made up of discrete cell units and devoidof intercellular electrical coupling, and thesymplast takes no part in the current flow. Such is not the case, however, in the pre-ent investigation. In the samples taken, thesymplast is primarily responsible for the cur-rent flow and the external cellulose frameworkis of little concern. This can be clearly shownby the results that the electrical resistance oftender plant tissues increases 3-fold as comparedwith that of control, after the preparation hasbeen thoroughly plasmolyzed with 1 mol / Lmannitol at the mid-region. On the other hand,the electrical resistance of the tissue segmentdoes not change appreciably with the electricalconductivity of the external solution in whichthe segment has been soaked previously. Plas-molysis is known to sever most of the intercel-lular plasmodesmatal connections, while itexerts little effect on the electrical conductanceof the cell membrane. Estimate has thus beenmade that about 75~93% of the applied cur-rent flows through the symplast of the tendertissue, i. e., the symplast resistance is main com-ponent of the tissue resistance. Besides, the simplified equivalent circuitof a plant tissue has been built and discussedin present paper.

用高渗溶液处理植物鲜嫩组织,R_t增至对照的3~4倍,用电导率不同的营养液浸泡被测组织,发现R_t值并不依赖于环境溶液的电导率。在利用胞外电极和直流电测量R_t时,施加于组织的电流约有75~90%是流经共质体的。R_t主要是反映了共质体的电导状况,即反映了膜透性的大小和细胞间电偶联的程度。
