This paper provides a complete analysis for the reliability of standby redundancy systems. A set of formulas for predicting the reliability have been derived and a numerical example is given in detail. First, the reliability of the automatic transfer device itself is carefully analyzed through the consideration of the dynamic and static failures of the monitors and transfer switches, then according to the two forms of the transfer devices these failures are classified into independent and dependent groups....

This paper provides a complete analysis for the reliability of standby redundancy systems. First, the reliability of the automatic transfer device itself is carefully analyzed through the consideration of the dynamic and static failures of the monitors and transfer switches, then according to the two forms of the transfer devices these failures are classified into independent and dependent groups. Finally, we find out that the independent transfer device is much better than the dependent form in system reliabi- lity. At the same time the author points out that the unreliability of the transfer device must be smaller than that of the individual subsystems, otherwise you could not get any improvement in the whole system reliability. In addition, the obvious con- clusions about the effects of the stop devices and the advantages of the warm and cold standby redundancy systems are obtained.

To monitor and investigate the stability of the surrounding rock and the behavior of reinforced concrete construction, field instrumentation has been set up and utilized, crack monitoring system was established. For the permanent stability of the underground caverns, further rock mechanics analysis and finite element analysis have been made. By synthesizing these findings, it has been shown tentatively that the "Earth Crust" stress is large and excavation induces stress redistribution in the surrounding rock. The stability of side walls has become stable by adopting some justifiable strengthening measures. Analysis shows also that the stress distribution is non-uniform, the excessive stress is increased not large and is localized in a relatively small zone in the rock pillar, and the shearing stress is not excessive. Therefore the rock pillar is still stable. Further investigations and field measurements are still under way.

Tacho-monitor with sound-light signal devices is used on combine harvester to control the operation. The devices are located where the malfunctions might occur, thus to keep the harvester in good working condition constantly and results in high efficiency.The author also givcs an idea of developing a series of tacho-monitor and varieties.
