This paper deals with the development of micro-optic directional coupler using selfoc lenses with insertion loss at 2-4 dB. Theoretical analysis and laboratory results show that the main cause of divergent focusing is due to the actual distribution of the refractive index in the selfoc glass rod deviating from parabolic. And the periodic length of a light ray in selfoc lens depends not only on the higher order terms of the distribution of refraction index but also on the coupling position between the optic...
