In order to study smoking rate and the effectiveness of intervention measures among middle school students, we carried out a survey among 5000 students of 6 middle schools in Chengdu from 1989 to 1990.The results showed that the smoking rates of boy students in senior middle school and junior middle school were 17. 63%, 8.62% respectively, but those of girl students were 0. 21% and 0.35%, the smoking rates were increasing with an age increasive, the smoking rate of boy students...

In order to study smoking rate and the effectiveness of intervention measures among middle school students, we carried out a survey among 5000 students of 6 middle schools in Chengdu from 1989 to 1990.The results showed that the smoking rates of boy students in senior middle school and junior middle school were 17. 63%, 8.62% respectively, but those of girl students were 0. 21% and 0.35%, the smoking rates were increasing with an age increasive, the smoking rate of boy students was significantly higher than that of girl students. The main reasons for their starting and continuing smoking were persuation from friend.less recreation and lonely feeling.After a series of intervention,we found that there were evident chagnes in knowledge,attitude and practice of these students. The smoking rates of students in senior middle school and junior middle school reduced by 1% and 2. 2% respectively, but the smoking rates of control student group increased by 4. 2% and 0. 28 respectively. The survey showed that the reinforcement of health education could play a significant role in reduction of smoking rate gradually.

为了了解本市中学生吸烟现状及干预措施的效果,我们在1989~1990年对六所中学5000名中学生进行吸烟调查和行为干预实验.结果表明,高、初中男学生吸烟率分别为17.63%、8.62%,女学生吸烟率分别为0.21%、0.35%,吸烟率随年龄、年级的增长而上升,男学生吸烟率远比女学生高.开始吸烟原因32~44%是伙伴劝吸,持续吸烟原因主要是朋友吸烟的引诱和生活无聊.经过一年干预实验后,高、初中学生吸烟率分别下降1%和2.2%,而对照组学生的吸烟率分别上升4.2%和0.28%.中学生的知识、态度、行为三方面,都有不同程度的变化.因此,加强健康教育非常重要,能使中学生的吸烟率有明显的下降.

These findings suggest that it is possible to prevent hypertension by exercise and that exercise may play an significant role in primary prevention of the cardiovasculardiseases.
