     In this paper,with China as the region in test,the potential of the new satellite gravity technique,satellite-to-satellite tracking,to improve the precision of regional gravity field model is studied. With WDM94 as reference,the gravity anomaly residuals of three models,the latest two GRACE global gravity field models(EIGEN_GRACE02S,GGM02S) and EGM96,are computed and compared. The causes for the differences among the residuals of the three models are discussed.

The anomaly change of the former is gentle with a NNE strike of linear anomaly, while the latter's is intensive with a NWW strike of linear anomaly. The further subdivision of Chinese continent gives four anomaly regions, the Eastern, the Central, the Xinjiang and the Qinghai-Xizang, they vary obviously...

The anomaly change of the former is gentle with a NNE strike of linear anomaly, while the latter's is intensive with a NWW strike of linear anomaly. We discussed the relationships between the regional gravity field and tectonics, isostasy and seismicity. It is suggested that the linear anomalies of the Eastern part reflect mainly the structural system of NNE strike but the Western part reflect the structural system of NWW strike. The Bouguer anomaly gradient zones are coincident with the fault belts between fault blocks, and the Chinese continental crust is principally in an isostatic state on a large scale. Therefore it can be assumed that most of earthquakes would take place along the gravity gradient zones.

    The gravity gradient belt studied in this paper is very distinct in Eastern China continent. The distribution of seismicity along the belt is clearly different in various sections. From researching the seismicity and the gravity field character in the belt, the paper analyses the tectophysical environment of strong earthquakes that occurred along the front edge of Taihangshan Mountain. The authors discuss the cause of the difference of the recent seismicity along the belt and the problem about the gravity field...

    The gravity gradient belt studied in this paper is very distinct in Eastern China continent. The distribution of seismicity along the belt is clearly different in various sections. Finally, the study stresses the point that the relationship between gravity field and seismicity is actually a problem of seismotectonic relationship. If the regional gravity anomaly appears in the mobile geotectonic region and major deep-seated rift in the uplifted edge of upper mantle, and if the regional gravity anomaly accompanies sharp change of deep-seated crustal boundary, geomorphology, crustal deformation and so on, it can be regarded as an indicator to distinguish continental strong earthquake zones.

    This thesis is based on the analytic studies and integrated interpretation of data obtained from Landsat images, aeromagnetic and regional gravity sur- vey, incorporated with the data of regional geological and geochemical sur- vey. There have been advanced some fresh realizations and further exploration of the basic features, the distributed regular pattern and the cause of forma- tion and evolution of the crustal fault structures in Fujian.
