Then a complex fraction of coal tar anthracene oil was analysed under the same condition, which showed the application potentialities of this multidimensional chromatographic system when separating complex material. Finally, the saturated paraffins, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and polar compounds(including nitrogen-containing compounds) in a heavy oil distillate (bp. 335-500℃ ) were successfully separated by a system of on-line coupled normal cyano-HPLC-GC combined with column backflush technique.Being compared with conventional procedure which involves the very laborious pre-treatment process,this method has advantages of reducing lose of sample material during preparation,significant short analysis time and ease of automation and suits for analysis of the morphology and distribution of nitrogen-containing compounds in heavy oil.
