Twelve fungal diseases in ornamental plants of Bromeliaceae were identified by systematic investigation carried out from 1998 to 2000 in Guangdong Province. They were leaf spots caused by Glomerrella cingulata (Stonem.) Spauld. et Schrenk,Colletotrichum capsici(Syd.) Butl. et Bisby, Phacidium billergiae L. Zeng et P. K. Chi, Bartalinia ananassa L. Zeng, Z. D. Jiang et P. K. Chi, Botryodiplodia theobromae Pat., Colletogloeum obtusum Sutton, Phomopsis diplodinoides (Sacc.) Punith., Phomopsis spectabilis V. G.... Zeng, Z. D. Jiang et P. K. Chi, Botryodiplodia theobromae Pat., Colletogloeum obtusum Sutton, Phomopsis diplodinoides (Sacc.) Punith., Phomopsis spectabilis V. G. Rao & B. R. D. Yadav, flower rot by Botrytis cinerea Pers., basal stem rot and leaf base rot by Pythium arrhenomanes Drechsler, Pythium torulosum Coker & Patterson and Cylindrocladium pteridis Wolf. Leaf spots caused by Phacidium billergiae and Bartalinia ananassa are new diseases in ornamental plants of Bromeliaceae. Colletogloeum obtusum and Phomopsis diplodinoides were species newly recorded in China. Anthracnose caused by Glomerrella cingulata and leaf spot by Phomopsis spectabilis were serious and popular diseases in greenhouse.
