Metabolizable energy and crude protein daily requirements ( MER and CPR ) of Leghorn growing pullets were estimated through a series of feeding tests, digestion and metabolic trials as well as comparative slaughter experiments, from 1980 to 1982, on growing pullets from the 1st to 6th, 7th to 14th and 15th to 21st week of age. The MER of the 3 successive periods were fpund to be 67.0, 156.7 and 199.9 kcal respectively and the CPR of the same 3 periods were 5.61, 8.35 and 8.74 grams respectively. The metabolizable energy concentration of 1 kg of ration (MEC) were calculated to be 2850, 2820 and 2810 kcal respectively, with such small differences among them that it is probable to merge the three values into one, 2800 kcal for the three successive growing periods. The crude protein contents ( CPC ) of the 3 periods were computed to be 18.9, 15 and 12% respectively from the basic data. These MEC and CPC values were compared with both national and international nutrition standards of growing pullets and discussions were made thereby.

In a digestivc and metabolic trial,nine crossbrcd castrated male growing pigs aver- aging 40.7kg in initial body weight from three litiers were assigned in a randomized block dcsign to diets containing 0,5%GXZ,3%MFS.The restllts showed that the apparent digestibility of nutricnts,such as organic mattcr,crudc protein,encrgy,ether extraet, nitrogen—free extracts and calcium in swine diets supplemented with GXZ at level 5%or MFS at level 3%tendcd to be improvcd.And there was also some indication that feeding diet with GXZ or MFS improved nitrogen retention,biological value and digestible ener- gy utilization cfficiency.Addition or GXZ or MFS to swine diet redUCCd thc ammonia con. ccntration in b100d, rcCCS alld Hrinc, and thc mOisture content of foees to a ccrtain extent. As described above,it was coneluded that the GXZ and MFS could not onlv be ad- ded to swine diet directly,but also be utilizcd as carricr of come premixes.
