The current state of theme Parks in the two cities, with emphasis on Splendid China in Shenzhen and Pearl hod in Zhuhai, is analysed in this peper. The author believes that the nest stage for Shenzhen's theme Park developmentCan be "show and entertainment culture" like the " Universal Studio Tour" in Hollywood and "Hi-tech world culture of the fUture" like that in Disneyland; while Zhuhai should concentrate onocean tourism with Jiuzhou Island as a possible site for farce-scale ocean park.Finally, the tourism development models for cities with good location and regionally advanced economy but poot tourism resources such as Shenzhen, are disCussed.The success of Splendid Chian resulted in a series of large investment on theme pobs in many cities in Guangdong Province.
