The methodology has much been improved and standardized with international scientific communities The studies have obviously been deepened, which ranges from total primary production to production structures,such as size structure,product structure,function structure and phytoplankton community structure,etc \;Through 20 years\' efforts,phytoplankton standing stock and production in these sea areas have basically been claritied, which provide important scientific bases for the study of structure and functions of marine ecosystems,management of fisheries resources, assessment of marine environment quality and observation prediction of red tide In recent years the studies have closely been connected with specific study objectives,such as assessment of carrying capacity of mariculture,study on eutrophication and red tides,etc , or with international joint research programs,such as JGOFS and GLOBEC The enhancement of large spatial and long term\|series observations using not only research vessels,but also oceanographic buoy,undulating oceanographic recorder with multi\|sensors and satellite remote sensing etc will greatly promote the development of primary production study in these regions

The AOB—Acoustic Oceanographic Buoy is the single node of a network of“smart”Buoys for acoustic surveillance,Rapid Environment Assenssment(REA)and underwater communications.The AOB is a lightweight surface buoy with a vertical array of acoustic receivers and temperature sensors to be air dropped or land deployed from a small boat.The received data is geotime and GPS precisely marked,locally stored and processed by on board dedicated DSP hardware.AOBs can exchange data over a local area network that includes submerged,sea surface(like for instance other AOBs)and air or land located nodes,allowing for the integration of all users in a seamless network.Specific software allows AOB usage in complex tasks such as passive or multistatic acoustic surveillance,acoustic observations for REA oceanographic forecast and model calibration, bottom and water column acoustic inversion,underwater communications and cooperating target tracking.The AOB was successfully deployed and in several consecutive days during two Maritime REA sea trials in 2003 (Mediterranean),in 2004(Atlantic)and for a high-frequency underwater communications experiment during Makai EX,2005(Hawai).Data collected at sea shows that the AOB is a versatile,robust and easy to use tool for a variety of broadband underwater acoustic applications.
