The width of the channel is only about 70-80 meters.The diagram of the longitudinal profile of the river bed is convex upward with the gradient break like a flight of stairs. The slope of the channel and the velocity of flow can reach locally 44.9‰ and 16 meters per second. The canyon terraces along the valley are distributed in odd pieces. Owing to the high altitude and precipitous valley slopes and strong physical weathering, the rock debris on the slopes moved down quikly.These topographic features of the Great Bend valley above-mentioned reflect controls exerted by geological structure system, which shows the great intensity of the new tectonic movement. A violent earthquake (8.5 grade) , occurring in Cayu on August 15th, 1950, had a great influence on the geomorphology of Great Bend valley.As regards the origin of the Great bend valley, we can classify the lower reaches of the Yarlungzangbo river into two parts. One is above the Parlungzango river. The valley is developed in a huge arcuate flalt zone with a big angle, where the northward drifting of the Indian Plate was thrusted under the Euasian Plote. And below it, the valley adapts itself to a group of north-south to east-north trending fault zone. The Great Bend valley is an antecedent gorge developed along the tectonic fractional zone of different directions. It is erroneous to consider that the Yarlungzangbo river flowed westwards in the geologicol times and the Great Bend was an elbow of capture, as postulated by some authors.

In this paper, recent structural deformation in the Xianshuihe fault zone isan alyzed from geodetic observations processed with quasi-stable and pseudo-inverse adjustment. It is shown that the fault is characterized by typical creep-stick slip mode, which appears as the left lateral inverse under regional pressure stress near W-E strike. The creep mode of the fault is mainly horizontal left lateral and the precursor anomaly appears to be "V" mode. The values of change after earthquake attenuate logarithmically....

In the Xialatuo seismic fault, rate of horizontal creep is 7.17±0.03mm /yr and that of dip creep is 1.04±0.03mm/yr, the ratio between both is 7:1. The lock section not showed obvious motion in the sticking stage, but left lateral inverse of the large order (up to meters) and followed relaxation subsidence motion (up to decimeters) in the epicentral area for the fast slip stage are generated. It is presented from recent structural deformation and past recorded large earthquakes that the north of Daofu is creep section and the south is lock section. Therefore, if a violent earthquake occur in the future in the Xianshuihe fault zone, possible danger area should be of the south.

本文利用经过拟稳和伪逆平差等方法处理过的大地测量资料,分析了鲜水河断裂带的现今构造形变。表明该断裂带在近东西向区域压应力作用下,呈压性反扭,为典型的蠕滑—粘滑型断裂带。 断裂带蠕动段以水平反扭为主,前兆显示“V字型”异常形态,震后呈对数衰减。在虾拉沱,水平蠕动年速率为7.17±0.03毫米,倾向蠕动年速率为1.04±0.03毫米,两者之比为7:1。在粘结阶段,断裂带闭锁段无明显活动;而快速错动阶段,震中区发生大量级的水平反扭错动(达米级)及其伴随的松驰下沉(达分米级)运动。 现今构造形变和历史大震表明:道孚以北为蠕动段,以南为闭锁段。据此,鲜水河断裂带来来如果发生大震,则危险区可能在南段。
