Limy bile, also called milky bile, results from the stasis of bile or obstruction in cystic duct either by calculus or inflammatory tissue, causing an increase of precipitation of calcium carbonate and thus forming a turbid, milky, pasty and even solid bile. In one case the calcium carbonate precipitation amounted to 43.2%. The plain film showed as if the gall-bladder had actually been filled with radiopaque, concentrated dye. And a flaid level in an erect position was also seen. Thus plain film should be taken... In one case the calcium carbonate precipitation amounted to 43.2%. The plain film showed as if the gall-bladder had actually been filled with radiopaque, concentrated dye. And a flaid level in an erect position was also seen. Thus plain film should be taken as one of routine examinations of gallbladder. If there is calculus in cystic duct or within the gallbladder, limy bile is obvious and the diagnosis of it can be easily confirmed.
