In order to change the unfavorable condition, it is necessary to take some measures for reducing or eliminating the over rich mixture area around fuel injector under cylinder head. This paper presents the following processes....

By means of combustion photograph, it was revealed that one of the causes refered to the appearance of after combustion and higher heat load in the slow and medium speed supercharged diesel engine is due to the distribution of fuel and air in the cylinder being not fited with each other. In order to change the unfavorable condition, it is necessary to take some measures for reducing or eliminating the over rich mixture area around fuel injector under cylinder head. This paper presents the following processes. (1 ) Increasing the amount of early injection portion before ignition and reducing the total injection duration. By the way of decreasing the under fuel pressure area of injector needle before lifting and raising the opening injection pressure, it is beneficial to reduce the contacting stress while needle valve is closing. And aslo, the maximum combustion pressure and exhaust temperature has been lowered in practice. In the mean time, it gives positive effect to the elimination of after injection and cavitation in the fuel injection system. (2)Crrying out film-atomization combustion system in the direct injection w type combution chamber. This combustion system applied in the supercharged diesel engine presents two particul ar characteristics which are lower maximum combustion pressure and higher air utilization. Combining these two points, it results that the mechanial and heat load and the air consumption of supercharged diesel engine can be lowered.

The calculating method of equilibrium flow in nozzle is described ein detail.The results of calculation show that the size of condensed particles has influence on both specific impulse and equilibrium combustion pressure. In combustion chamber the relative lag of condensed particles velocity is considerable. Not only the divergence half-angle of nozzle but also the convergence half-angle is very important for specific impulse losses due to the lags between two phases.
