Infrared camouflage technology has become more and more important because of the development of radar stealth technology, electronic warfare, infrared camouflage technology and high-mobility of modem fighters.Based on published papers, the main infrared camouflage technologies currently used in modem fighters are discussed in the paper. These technologies include cooling, shield,cover and infrared coating etc. to eliminate or reduce the difference of temperature between objects and background, to reduce the infrared radiation intensity and brightness of objects, and to direct the infrared radiation of objects. The camouflage technologies can reduce infrared characteristics of modem high-mobility fighters in a certain degree and their effectiveness defend on the mission and performance of modern fighters. Because of powerful engines and high-mobillity flight, infrared radiation of modern fighters is still quite strong.

This article deals with the manofacturing method, mechanical properties and microstructure of aluminium matrix composite hybridly reinforced by SiC whiskers and Al2O3 shortfibers. The results show that the reinforcements are distributed unifomly in the composites. Themechanical properties, especially the thermal tensile strengths are improved greatly compared withthose of the matrix.
