The name of black-fleck disease of ginseng (Alternaria panax whetz) was originally given to a disease that attacks American ginseng. However, the conidia of this fungus in Liaoning Province are appreciably larger than the American isolates. We inoculated 29 weed species with this fungus but could find no other host on the experimental farm. The starting temperature for the germination of the conidia was 1℃; the optimum temperature was 20°~25℃. The highest germination rate of conidium was found in ginseng leaf sap 1% sugar solution and dew under saturated humidity, the lowest, in distilled water. Solution of soil extract showed strong inhibition to the germination of conidia. The conidia were the cause of infection, Germinating spores invade the plant through epidermis, with an in incubation period of 24~48 hours. Conidia are produced 3~6 days after inoculation, and this process can repeat in the same infected region. In one square centimeter of leaf there can be as many as 4, 107~51, 120 spores. Overwintering diseased leaves can also produce conidia and cause iufection. The conidium has no dormant peroad, it can not injure woody stems. The black-fleck disease is an epidemic disease, which is restricted to small areas. The conidium is large in size, with limited bouyancy, Which hampers its transmission by air. The amount of pathogens present in the field is positively correlated with the incidence of the disease, The climatic conditions in Liaoning Province makes this region an area of frequent occurrence of the disease.

It has one generation a year. 2-4 instar nymphs overwinter under the litter, among which 4 instar ones reach around 95%.In the following year, in early and mid-April when the mean day temperature is above 10℃, the nymphs will climb up to bamboo culm and feed in aggregation. There is a close relationshop between the number of nymphs climbing to bamboo culms and the relative humidity, which is a linear regression as Y=75.89-0.77x. If the temperature decreases or it is windy and rainy, the nymphs will climb down from the bamboo culms and try to hide themselves. Adults appear from the end of May to the beginning of June. Both the overwintered nymphs and the adults feed the old culms at the same time, and they have a habit of feigned death. After feeding for 15-35 days, the adults start to mate. The female may couple with the male for several times and then oviposit eggs on the back of the new culm's leaves in 30-45 days. A female may lay 30-60 eggs. The starting temperature and day accumulative temperature for the egg's development are 20.3℃ and 39.2℃ day-1 respectively, 1-instar nymph does not feed. There are 5 instars in the nymphal stage. The life span of the female is around 70 days. The nymph dropped down to the ground and overwinter under the litter.

Seven different temperatures were used to determine the starting temperature for pupation and eclosion of the overwintering lavae of Atrijuglans hetaohei Yang, being 9.4℃ and 10.4℃ respectively, whose effectively-accumulated temperatures for their development were 276.3℃ / d and 196.3℃. / d respectively. Soil temperature affects the developing speed of pupation and eclosion process. When water content in soil is low, and so is pupation and eclosion rate. When the temperature condition is favourable but soil water content is low, the development process is prolonged, and the survival rate is decreased. In addition, eight regression equations were also established in the present study.

在17~30℃内共设7个温度,测定了核桃举肢蛾越冬幼虫化蛹和羽化的发育起点温度,分别为9.4,10.4℃。发育积温分别为276.3和196.3日度,表明温度影响过冬幼虫化蛹和羽化发育速度。土壤含水量低,化蛹率和羽化率均低;在温度条件满足时,土壤含水量低,发育历期延长,存活率降低。此外还建立了8个回归方程式。
