The earliness of cotton has become an important subject interested by people of most cotton growing countries. But until to-day, cotton breeders still hold different opinions about the definition of earliness as well as on the methods of estimation. The work of present study is to find out some indicative characters of earliness in upland cotton, which were expected to be: (1) highly correlated with actual earliness as expressed by the percentage of lint cotton of first picking to the total lint cotton picked (% of first picking), (2) with high heritabiJity. i.e. characters transmitted to the offspring with high degree of hereditary transmission, and (3) ready to be observed and recorded, especially to be distinguished during early stages of cotton growth.The work was carried out for two years, from 1964 up to the end of 1965. The methods used to estimate the heritability were (1) analysis of variance of a randomized design of variety experiment, and (2) utilizing data from parental plants and F2 offsprings.The results obtained are summarized in the following table: The results worked out that: (1) "time of 50% 'square' appearing" seems to be more suitable as an indicative character of earliness of cotton, owing to its high heri-tability and significant correlation coefficient with (%) of first picking, besides, this character can be determined during early growing stage, (2) the data obtained in this study comfirms the data obtained by Eichmond and Eadwan (1962) who had used seven characters to deal with the earliness of cotton, (3) the data obtained in two years showed similar tendency with only few exceptions which can be explained as due to the difference in climatic conditions and in times of sowing within these two years.

当前世界主要产棉地区,都十分重视早熟性。但是关于棉花早熟性的涵义及其测定,目前尚缺乏一致的认识。本项研究的目的,在于探索陆地棉早熟性的适当指示性状,这些性状应和实际的早熟性有显著的相关性、有较高的遗传力,最好能在生育早期就能加以测定。根据两年对出苗期、现蕾期、开花期、初絮期、盛絮期、第一果枝高度、第一果枝节位、平均主茎节间长度和第一次籽棉产量%等九种性状估计得的遗传力,结果以现蕾期和盛絮期的遗传力较高,两者各和第一次籽棉产量%的相关系数又极显著,因此,以现蕾期或盛絮期作为评定陆地棉早熟性的指示性状,较为适合。但盛絮期的测定,失之过晚,不如现蕾期在生育早期就能测出,对当年选择更有现实意义。

According to the results of the research on the technology of the mechaniza-tion of cotton harvesting conducted in the state farm of Xinjiang and the-analysis of the production experiences in USA and USSR, the author came-to the conclusion that the three technical links in the mechanization of cotton harvesting, namely chemical defoliation and desiccation, mechanical harvesting and cotton cleaning are objectively necessary, and moreover, put forward a concrete technical plan。 These essential technical links must cooperate with each other as an inseparable set, in order to guarantee the quality of cotton, high efficiency and low production cost in mechanized cotton harvesting. In addition, the author pointed out the existing problems in the horizontal and vertical spindle-type cotton pickers used in foreign countries, such as compli-cated cumbersome construction, large amount of cotton dropped on the ground, etc. Based on the experimental results of the cotton picking unit with sucking: and vibrating principle, the author advanced a preliminary scheme of modified sucking-vibrating cotton picking unit with cotton stick stirring rollers, which. under the present material-technical condition of China, is possible to be used in cotton-growing state farms.

本文根据在新疆国营农场试验研究棉花收获机械化工艺的结果和对美、苏两国生产经验的分析,探讨明确了化学脱叶催熟、机器采棉和棉花的清理加工这三个工艺环节是棉花收获机械化客观上必需的,并提出了具体技术方案。这些主要工艺环节必须紧密配套才能保证机器采的棉花质量和高效低成本地进行机器采棉。本文并分析评价了现有国外的水平摘锭式和垂直摘锭式采棉原理存在的问题,如结构复杂笨重、落地棉多等的缺点。并且根据对气吸机械振动式采棉部件试验研究的结果,提出了装有拨株辊的改进型气吸振动式采棉部件的初步方案。试验研究结果表明,在我国现有物质技术条件下,在国营植棉农场实行本文提出的棉花收获机械化方案在技术上和经济上是有可能的。

Casnarina equisetifolia is an important if tree species for protective forest in coastal area. Insects of 73 species of 26 families from 6 orders were discovered in Zhejiang province, among which Anoplophora chinensishad the widest distribution and most seriouse damage. It occured one generation every year in Zhejiang,larvae overwintered in canal of hadromestome of hosted tree. Experiment show that control larvae with zine phosphide cotton-picks had 94. 4% of adjusted decrease rate.

木麻黄(CasuarinaequisetifoliaL.)是沿海防护林的主要造林树种,本省已发现危害木麻黄的害虫有6目26科73种,其中以星天牛Anoplophorachinensis(Forster)分布最广,危害最严重,在本省年发生以1代为主,幼虫在寄主树干木质部隧道中越冬,试验结果表明,用磷化锌毒签防治幼虫较为理想,校正虫口减退率为94.4%。
