From the functional relationship between the flooding gas and liquid velocities derived from the two-film theory based on the Bernoulli equation,two parameters which are relative to the packing property were investigated. One is the packing factor a/ε~3 which consists of the packing specific area a and the bed porosity ε.
On the basis of semi-theory analysis the relation of gas speed in the flood point for the bulk packing bed has been derived, the liquid flood packing factor in this paper of the packing commonly used has been calculated by means of experimental data.
The hydrodynamics and mass transfer performance of 16 and 25 QH 1 mini ring were studied in a 186mmID column with air oxygen water system. By correlating the experimental data,equations for calculating the pressure drop,flooding gas velocity,flooding packing factor,wetted packing factor and liquid phase overall height of a transfer unit were obtained.
