Papillae found on the lip of the ventral sucker and on the body surface encircling both the oral and ventral suckers were densely distributed and rather randomly scattered over the remainder of the body. The papillae were divided into five types: 1. Ciliated rosette-form papillae on the body surface around the oral sucker; 2. Ciliated spiral papillae on the body surface surrounding the excretory pore; 3. Round swellings of nonciliated papillae on the lips of the oral and ventral suckers; 4. Nonciliated spiral papillae on the body surface around the oral sucker; 5. Nonciliated buttonlike papillae on the body surface encircling the oral sucker.

Hence the life history of A. multiflora Bay. may be divided into the vegetative phase which produces the rosette with alternate leaves and the productive phase which produces the flowering branch with opposite leaves. In the vegetative phase, when temperature, nitrogen content and moisture of the soil are suitable, the terminal bud is able to develop a flowering branch, then the plant will be regarded as A. multiflora Bge. vat. serotina Kitagawa by some taxonomists. For this reason the present author corrects its name as a synonym of A. multiflora Bge. Through the examination of cultivation, the forms of white and red flowers under the condition of allogam can produce progeny. They were named A. multiflora Bge. f. leucantha and rhodantha as a result of the examination.
