The number (n) of sample trees for determining latex yield can be calculated with the following equation:n=2~2CV~2/ε~2where CV=the estimated coefficient of variation of the population withthe monthly mean latex yield per tree as the unit(%)ε=allowable deviation(%)If the percentage point of the cumulative frequency of CV is taken as 90%, the value of CV will be 60% accordingly; and if the ε% is taken as 20%, 15% and 10% respectively, the sample size will be 30, 64 and 144 trees correspondingly.Repeatability of latex yield was estimated, where the average repeatability of eight combinations over 4—8 years was 0.5 with monthly mean latex yield per tree as the unit and that of three combinations over 8 years was 0.4 with yearly mean latex yield per tree as the unlt.Thus the proper continuou period for latex yield determination can be estimated at 6 years with operations to be performed in 5 months each year.
