Climate change over the last thousand of years had controlled the dynamics of glacier and debris-flow bursting, which resulted in substantial changes in the mountainous environment. We surveyed community structure of primary forests in Gongga mountain and forest successional processes in wood plots.The changing features in sub-alpine environment are discussed in this paper. Tree species and size between glacial shrinking area and debris-flow fan in Hailuogou valley are compared. The pioneer species that settle in debris-flow fan and glacial shrinking area are Salix spp. and Populus purdomii.Abies fabri and Picea brachytyla are the climax tree species, respectively. The primary vegetation successional process in Hailuogou (2700~3200m) can be divided into four stages:\; Slash surface (20~200a)→ Salix-Populus seeding community (10~30a)→ Populus-Salix sapling community (30~100a)→ Populus-Abies mixed community (50~100a)→ Abies-Picea climax.\;In a natural and undisturbed environment,trees compete for light,water and nutrients,and therefore, only very few trees grow up and mature through spreading, seeding or sprouting. Disaster disturbances in mountain is an very important driving factor for regeneration of woody plants. Repeated destruction of forest by glacial movement or debris flow generated additional forest gaps that allow young plants to grows.In this study the Gongga Forest Succession Model (GFSM) was developed for simulation of forest community successional processes in different scale in Gongga Mountain. The GFSM is a modified version from the Newcop Model that had been used in Northeastern China. A soil succession module was added in to the GFSM model to simulate soil formation and chemical element change of woodland. In order to represent major features of forests in Southwestern China, many field works have been done to identify ecological parameters of various trees in the sub-alpine region.\;In GFSM,the regeneration module simulates tree seeding in patch,spreading over patch, shouts sprouting and theirs growing up to young tree of each species. The growth module simulates stem increasing of individual tree under its environment.The death module simulates random death of young trees, low-growth death of mature tree in a competitive environment, and natural death of old trees. The environment module determines stochastic change of weather and eco-environment parameters such as mean monthly air temperature, precipitation, dry period, evaporation and soil water. The simulation result of these modules can be affected by environment disturbance that is modeled throuh random rainfall-temperature processes generation. Other parameters relative to forest status are described by the canopy module that estimates canopy height, leave growth and distribution, leave hanging and falling time, and wood biomass. The soil module simulates accumulation, decay and mineralization of forest litterfall, and computes changes in soil chemical elements due to humus accumulation and rainfall scouring.The GFSM is run at monthly time step.\;On the basis of simulation of tree's life history, the GFSM combined forest succession with soil change in both material components and nutrition content. The Monte-Carlo method was applied to simulate random weather fluctuation and the uncertainty of tree death.\;These modeled processes agreed with the field investigation results in this region. The elevation distribution of different tree species was also simulated;and the results are consistent with field observation of ecological features of tree species. The modeling approach reflects well the succession dynamics of primary forests in Southwestern China.These results are very useful for improving the management polices and prediction technology for restoration and conservation of primary forests in Southwestern China.

通过对贡嘎山典型天然林样地动态的调查和群落结构的研究 ,基本掌握了青藏高原东部亚高山森林植被的演替特征和过程 ,在自然生存竞争条件下 ,树木的种源通过扩散、就地下种和萌发新枝产生的幼苗只有极少数能够生长成大树。在树木繁育过程中 ,光照、水分、温度和养分竞争是决定性条件 ,山地灾变干扰对森林的更新也具有重要作用。提出的贡嘎山森林演替模型 ( GFSM)在树木个体生命史模拟的基础上重现了群落的演替动态 ,特别是将土壤形成与树木演变结合起来 ,采用随机过程模拟气候波动及单木生长死亡的不确定性 ,揭示了亚高山天然条件下的森林个体与群落的行为动态 ,对于解决天然林更新与保护提供了系统的分析预测技术与理论。

Niche theory is one of the most important ecological theories. It is widely applied to analyzing such phenomena as competition among, and evolution of, urban ecosystem func- tional modules. This paper describes a study concerning different functional modules of Kaifeng city urban ecosystem. Niche theory and techniques were used to analyze the changes of these functional modules in the period 1994–2003. The results showed that, in the period 1994–2003: (1) Niche value of the atmospheric environment and urban virescence modules increased, while niche value of the water environment and sound environment modules decreased; (2) niche value of the tertiary industry module increased, niche value of the secondary industry module decreased, while niche value of the primary industry module showed little change; and (3) niche value of the infrastructure, resource distribution, and production & social security modules increased, while niche value of the population module decreased. This study may contribute to macroscopic planning of urban functional modules, economic development, and environmental protection.
