Yeniugou is an important area for Qinghai-Tibetan plateau wildlife;probably one of the best remaining areas,particularly for wild yak and argali.Despite legal protection,poaching for most species is virtually uncontrolled.The most pressing need is to control poaching by non-residents.Establishing a nature reserve in Yeniugou is a possibility,but nearby experiences suggest that,failing funding mechanisms and an incentive scheme for local people to cooperate in wildlife protection,it would not be likely to succeed.Another possibility is to establish Yeniugou as a " wildlife management area".These concepts are discussed.

Silicified Woodstone garden is located in the northern desert area of Jimsar and Qitai county and Mulei Kazak Autonomous County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is about 230km long from the east to the west and 70km wide from the south to the north, and occupies a land area of about 14 000km2. Silicified Woodstone garden is located in the northern desert area of Jimsar and Qitai county and Mulei Kazak Autonomous County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is about 230km long from the east to the west and 70km wide from the south to the north, and occupies a land area of about 14 000km2. The area is rich in natural tourism resources incIuding physiographic and biological landscapes. The scenic spots are: (1 )Silicified woodstone garden consisted of Jurassic pine and cypress fossils in Qitai County;(2)The plain of stone coin zoolite site with a great number of marine zoolites and fossils in Qitai County; (3) Colourful Jurassic hills; (4)Soundable sand dunes; (5) Primeval forests of Popular diversdelia; (6) Wild ungulate Preservation Zone of Karamaili Mountain. A tentative plan is suggested for the tourism development in the area. The main contents in the plan are to construct the tourism line of Balikun-Mulei-Qitai-Jimsar-Fukan rumqi outside the scenic area and a circled line inside the scenic area, build and develop the scenic spots mentioned above, construct and improve the accomodations and other service facilities as well as the bases for scientific research and popularization, strengthen the planning, construction and mangement of Wild Ungulate Preservation Zone of Karamaili Mountain, restore the natural vegetation, etc.

研究和保护遗传多样性成为野生偶蹄类动物保护生物学的重要课题。目前测定遗传多样性的技术主要有 :数量性状的遗传分析 ,蛋白电泳多样性和以DNA为遗传标记等一系列测定方法。这些方法基于不同的原理 ,其操作的难易、耗费的时间精力以及数据所能说明的问题有一定差别。因此研究偶蹄类动物遗传多样性应选择适宜的技术方法。
