The definition, properties and possible safety problems of genetically modified foods(GMF) were introduced. The paper summarised the development of strategies and methods to detect genetically modified foods. It introduced the key problems of detecting methods and technology of GMF, especially the PCR.
The genetically modified foods derived from GMP are reviewed in respect of the safety strategy and regulations, risk assessment, evaluation methods, available products in international markets and post-marketing monitoring.
