Analysing the experimentally determined complete and partial phase diagrams for binary rare earth(RE)-X(element) systems published to date, we have separated 530 binary systems, according to their phase diagrams, into four different types. 1. The solubility type. In this type at least one range of complete solid solubility exists in the phase diagram. The binary systems are mainly constituted by any two elements among RE or by (Eu or Yb) and (Ca or Ba). 2. The euteetie type. The type consists of the elements of the group IVB(Ti, Zr, Hf) and the heavy rare earth.In addition ,the phase diagrams of So-V, Nt, Cr; Y-Mo, W; Lu-Cr systems are of the eutectie type. 3. The monotectic type. The heat of evaporation of the component X forming the type of system is extremely different form that of RE. 4.The compound-forming system. The type of system is based on combination of RE and those elements lying on the right of group VIB of the periodic system with the exception of H and Be, Mg which belong to group IA and ⅡA respectively:According to the composition-structural data of the reported compounds RE_mX_n,the composition ranges for compound formation in the RE-X systems have been represented, the existence ranges correspond to a division of the elements into threeelasses, namely: transition elements, IB and IIB elements and those of the other groups. The determining factor appears to be the electronic structure of the X atoms which contain d or s or sp eleetrons in the three eases respectivelyExamining the type and the lattice constants of compounds of a given X partner with all the rare earths in going from La to Lu, it might be found that the type and stability of compounds are related to the volume contractions. The lan-thanide contraction will lead to the formation of the new type of compounds in the heavy rare each elements-X systems.For a given types of compounds in the heavy rare earth elements-X systems.For a given type of compounds RE_mX_n,the linear relation can be found between Vu~(1/3) (the cube roots of the unit formnla volume) and r_(RE~3) (ionic radii of lanthanide elements). Based on the reported structural data of compounds RE_mX_n, the mean volume contraction (V%) for RE_mX_n series along the periodic system have been determined, the smallest contractions are found with the IB and IIB elements, which corresponds again to the classification according to those elments electronic structure.The lanthanides with valences other than three produce difference from trivalent lanthanides in the systematic study of binary phase diagrams. The effect is most noticeble in compound formation. In some cases, although the compounds with same crystal structure can exist, the cell dimensions are usually not in the correct proportion relative to those of the neighboring lanthanides. Furthermore, compounds present in the trivalent systems may eider be of different structure types or may not exist at all for the other valence states. The behavior concerning valence states of Ce, Eu, Yb can be summarized as follows: 1. Compounds containing lanthanides with a normal fixed valency corresponding to 3 for Ce, and 2 for Eu or Yb; 2. Compounds Containing lanthanides with an anomalous fixed valency:4 for Ce, 3 for Eu or Yb; 3. compounds containing lanthanides with intermediate valency, fixed or variable with temperature and pressure.

This paper describes process of rotary forging,analyes shape and parameters of mechanics and energy , and investigates die design. Take high flange plate for example. The practices show that compound forming of forging-expanding-rotary forging of high flange plate is reasonable. At present,batch process is going on.
