The graphite tubes coated with W, Mo, Ta carbides improve the precision and prolong the tube life. The sensitivity relative to 1% absorption is 8.5ng/mL (20μL). The relative standard deviation is 2%. The detection limit (3σ) is 5.7×l.0~(-10)g. The amounts of traces of chlorine in distilled water and absolute ethanol are determined.

The reaction between N-mehtyl-n-aminophenol sulfate (metol) and hydrogen peroxide may be catalyzed by some micro metallic ions and this has been made use of in determination of micro copper.Various experimental conditions, such as absorption spectra of reactants and products, acidity of solution, amount of reagents and temperature were optimized. Interferences from other chemical species and their elimination were also studied. The method has been used in determination of copper in river water and cabbage samples. It was shown that the reproducibility was good. The recovery for water sample was over 95%. The results obtained from cabbage samples were in good agreement with those obtained by atomic absorption spectroscopy and photochemical method.
