The values of Eo from three soils followed the order:calcareous chao soil>yellow-brown soil>red soil,it conformed with the order of adsorption capacity of the three soils and was contrary to its desorption percentages. For yellow-brown soil, small quantity of phosphate sorbed resulted in the increasing of E_0 : while the amount of sorbed phosphate became higher, its Eo declined. With increasing of phosphate sorbed, the Eo of red soil increased, but that of calcareous chao soil decreased. It was showed that sorption of phosphate not only affected the intensity of soil copper adsorption, but also affected its adsorption capacity. A combination of adsorption maxima-M from Langmuir equation and Eo from De BOer-Zwikker equation,the adsorption behaviour of soil systmes could be described more well.
